According to the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Las Vegas witnessed a 50% increase in visitors compared to March of last year. Approximately more than 3.3 million visitors stepped foot in the city.
Takings in casinos went up by 27% as per Nevada’s Gaming Control Board. Harry Reid International Airport reported that more than 4.3 million visitors passed through its gates.
The numbers give hope to the city’s casino industry, which was earlier shattered due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Conditions were similar to being a ghost town as the city registered losses of billions of dollars amid lockdowns and closures.
Fortunately, a break has been caught as the country opens up and the economy begins to recover the losses. Casinos in Las Vegas have already started reaping the rewards through visitors coming in large numbers.
Gambling and entertainment are surely the city’s main spots; however, it offers a lot more in the bundle. Youth can look out for something adventurous while families can spend time together engaging in fun activities. Bars and nightclubs keep the night as young as ever to take the city closer to its synonym of being a Sin City.
Tourists returning to the city and its casinos is a sign of relief. Operators lost a lot of money to keep the business alive during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Online casinos came to the rescue of many players. Traditional operators who decided to stick to the brick and mortar experience relied on a quick reopening of the country to welcome the visitors. Efforts for both paid off, and visitors are here again.
In March, casinos took $1.35 billion to reach closer to the record value of $1.36 billion, which was registered in July 2021. These figures suggest that the sun is rising again.
Visitors may have to hold their hoses, though, as a larger number of them equals longer waiting lines, something for which the city will have to prepare itself all over again. Hotels are majorly booked with an average occupancy enough to keep their bottom lines greener for the times to come.
What adds a cherry to this cake is the reopening of The Palms Casino & Resort. It recently went through the transfer of ownership and a refurbishment of $600 million. Anyone who has visited the location earlier would find it more attractive, and anyone visiting here for the first time may end up being hooked to the newly developed ambiance.
The United States of America continues to add more direct flights, indicating that the numbers are more likely to go up in the months to come. Since the city will host some of the world’s biggest conventions and shows, it is a guarantee that the record number will break before the year ends.
