Understanding betting trends for UFC 292

TD Garden in Boston is gearing up for two major events, and so are the platforms that will accept bets on those fights. Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley will helm the main event. Zhang Weili and Amanda Lemos will battle for the win in the co-main event. To speak short, trends are favoring the favorites at -200, with a positive figure in some instances.

Sterling versus O’Malley is seeing a shift in the odds structure. Sterling was dancing around -250 before it tilted to -260. O’Malley is entering as an underdog with odds of +200. However, that has now been changed to +210. This is a small modification that is less likely to hamper the participation of a bettor. However, UFC 292 has so much to unfold for the odds to change their tracks.

Degnon from The SuperBook has said it is only right to assume that O’Malley is trending as an underdog. What is working in this direction is his involvement in parlays and tickets, plus money for him. Degnon believes that O’Malley could continue to see support from his fans. The guy is a famous fighter who has won many events in the past.

Another aspect is that such a huge fan following could become a liability for anyone. This is based on the fact that one has a lot of people to satisfy and disappoint if things change direction at any time. Pressure, in any sport, only takes players so far in an event.

Kalikas, a UFC betting analyst, believes that the fight will bring bettors and fans to the crossroads. Kalikas has further added that the bet will have the Pros going for Sterling and the Joes going for O’Malley. O’Malley only stands a chance if he comes up with a game plan. Otherwise, Sterling will take on the fight and then win.

Weili and Lemos were seen standing at -310 and +250, respectively. Degnon has said that there is a lack of interest in this fight as of now, but the market has started swinging toward Zhang Weili. Again, the shift is only by a thin margin. Yet, it demonstrates that an underdog is willing to put up a tough fight. Degnon has the impression that Lemos could pull an upset on Saturday night.

Weili recently suffered two consecutive losses. She is looking to bounce back to the winning stage. Weili was initially the favorite before those losses knocked some sense into the bettors. Her price went down to -280 before there was a rebound. There could be another short, according to a statement by Kalikas. They have termed Lemos a dangerous fighter to compete with. Zhang will have to go full out in the fight to pull big punches against the opponent, literally!

Meanwhile, Magny versus Garry is gaining traction, too, with Ian Garry seeing the odds stacked at -420 against +320 for the opponent. Magny enters the arena after Geoff Neal had to withdraw due to medical reasons that have not been made public yet.
